15 year old Nakita Wright has her sights set on the Paris Paralympic Games in 2024

Attention Wheelchair Basketball fans: The future of the sport is in good hands

Seven years ago, Nakita was paralysed from the waist following a surfing accident, she was diagnosed with surfer’s myelopathy. The up and coming superstar started playing wheelchair basketball about a year and a half ago, and she is already showing heaps of potential.

Nakita impressed former Paralympian Caroline Matthews at training sessions with her skills, she was invited to train with the Women’s Premier League team earlier this year. The teenager does not let her disability define her, she shows the mental toughness of someone beyond her years.

Nakita could make history by becoming the youngest member of the Great Britain squad at Paris 2024. But she is not alone on this journey, she gives credit to her mother Tasha Wright, who continues to support her and encourage her to follow her dreams.
