Cardiff Met FC vs Newtown

Teeth clattered and bodies shivered in a nail biter between Cardiff Met and Newtown
Full-time (0 – 0)
After a snow storm a few days prior, it was a frosty atmosphere at the Artificial Pitch. Met controlled the pace after the kick-off whistle as both teams made long passes and attempted to score.
The crowd seemed to show a good understanding of the technical side of football, they encouraged Met as Newtown evaded a few goals by fine margins. A spectacular pass to the centre from the tightest of angles on the left side almost resulted in a goal for Met.
Met were making good progress through the defence but struggling to put the finishing touches needed to score. Lewis Rees missed a close free kick.
Newtown refused to give in heading into half-time and Met avoided defeat after an astounding save by Alex Lang. Two close corner kicks for Met signalled the end of the first half 0 – 0.
The match was heating up as Alex Lang came through once again with a wonderful save after a free kick for Newtown. With only three minutes of added time, both teams missed crucial shots on target.
“On balance I think we were the better team and were unlucky not to score in the second half, if results go our way this weekend, then it could be seen as a point gained but the boys are a bit disappointed not to take all three points,” Eliot Evans (player/assistant manager for Cardiff Met) said.
